Because I am not the player (my son is) I will leave what might be an important hint for all parents out there. The directions for building any vehicles that come with this set or any of the additional sets are NOT in the boxes. You will need to play the game and at some point you will be given the directions for building the vehicles on screen. Hope this helps. Sincerely, the mom who went through the inside and outside trash IN A RAINSTORM looking for vehicle building directions.

I bought Lego Dimensions a few months ago and during a sell purchased enough packs to access most of the Open Worlds from Season One. However, for some reason the Scooby-Doo world just didn’t seem like a must have. Having said that, I will say that the Scooby-Doo level in the Main Story Mode is one of my favorite levels. I was in no rush to purchase, until… I saw on the official Lego website that this pack was retired. For some reason, Lego officially retires their sets, never to be made again. In fact, there’s a Milenium Falcon set that now sells for $6k on eBay. I’m serious, go check it out. So when I saw this pack was retired AND then it dropped to $10, I figured I’d better jump on it. And I’m glad I did.

Although I don’t think any of the heroes or vehicles have any unique abilities, Scooby has the Tracking Ability that isn’t as common as some (I think only Owen from Jurassic Park has it, at least from Season 1). Shaggy and the Scooby Snack aren’t super necessary, but the Mystery Machine has some really cool abilities, once upgraded. And at full speed upgrade, it flys across the screen… sometimes too fast, actually.

The Scooby-Doo world can only be accessed by buying this pack. Not sure what they plan on doing if they sell out, after retiring this. The world is different from most in that its cell shaded, to give it a cartoon feel. Some people may have mixed opinions about this. It’s not my favorite way to render a world, but it is different and adds another perspective to the game at large. Not only is the world cell shaded, but heroes and vehicles are as well (although Scooby and crew look normal in all other worlds). The quests in this world are fun and you get to meet different characters from the cartoon series. I also like the variety in the Open World itself as some worlds, like Chima seem to be a repetition of mostly the same scenery (but maybe that because I don’t know those franchises).

One thing I’ve noticed in some video reviews of the Scooby Open World, it seems in those videos that everytime Scooby moves you hear the cartoon doo-ba-dooba sound. In the videos it’s almost irritating, but I haven’t noticed it that much when playing. Maybe it’s some audio setting or recording issue the Youtubers had.

All in all, a fine addition to your probably already growing Dimensions Collections. The main reason I threw out this review was because of this retired pack and the fantastic price drop. Get it while you can… lol, I say that… and even after retiring, they probably still have 2.3 million of these laying around.

Quite possibly my favorite of the Dimension sets. Scooby is incredibly powerful. He can swim (which not every character can) and has the dig ability. He makes hilarious comments when certain characters come on (when he started humming the Batman Song I couldn’t help but squeal). As far as the builds themselves, they’re very easy and shouldn’t be any issue for kids/adults who have gotten any of the other sets. Well worth the expense, especially because it gets you access to the Scooby Doo Hub World.
